Subject: RE: Castle Fields - Offer

Hi Ben,

We continue to move forward without being able to take firm decisions yet. Sorry, but this whole process is very complicated, especially with our preferred site being acquired by a developer and our negotiations with him. I’ll keep you in the loop as best I can.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Bob,

Would it be possible to give us some sort of time frame on a decision regarding castle fields? Our members are starting to get very anxious in relation to news they have read in the local paper regarding both colleges, so it would be very useful to be able to go back to them with at least a date when we will know either way?

Many thanks,

Ben Blackmore

Hi Ben,
As you have probably seen from the local paper we are making some progress with the future of BCOT. However we are still no further forward with disposal of Castle Fields. I know this is disappointing and frustrating.

Sorry not to give you more positive news,
Cheers,
Bob

Following another meeting with the BCOT Deane, an offer has been made to BCOT to purchase the land. This is with them and we are waiting for feedback and or a decision.

Meeting: 7.6.07
nothing has dramatically changed as BCOT are still in limbo due to changing property development companies and having to potentially find a new site. However they do have a meeting on the 13th June & they will discuss castle fields as an agenda item. Hopefully we will get some sort of a decision from them!

BCOT feedback:

Ben,
Until we work through our Property Strategy (which includes negotiations with the Learning & Skills Council (our funding body), Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and other stake holders just we cannot commit to anything at the moment.

I hope we will be in a position to advise you more clearly sometime in May but I can give no guarantees at this stage.

I know this is frustrating (as much for me as for you as I want to push on forward) but we are right in the middle of very serious considerations about the plans for the college’s development. I really am sorry I can’t be more forthcoming.

We had a meeting with BCOT this morning regarding the long term leasing of the Castle Fields. They still could not give us a definite answer. The contact at BCOT is very pro us doing something with the ground. I have pushed him for a commitment within the next 2 months. He has a financial review at the start of November and will hopefully come back to us with a date for another meeting in due course.

I have a meeting with The Council Wednesday 1st November 2006 to discuss the Councils Olympic Bid Plans. The council has until January 07 to submit a bid to host teams for the Olympics.
We intend to put BHC forward to support and help to host a hockey team for the 2012 games.

I will keep you posted regarding developments for this, but our new pitch is essential in relation to our plans. Now that BCOT know this, they realise the urgency of a requirement for a decision on their part!

Fingers crossed we will get some good news in due course!
