SUBS & FEES - 2007 onwards

AGM 2007 - Treasurers Report

The accounts were presented by Iain Baxendine, he mentioned that BHC had not faired quite as well this year as he would have liked. I.B explained that the situation was mainly due to a decrease in membership. I.B would look into investing any money currently held by BHC. A question was asked re the possibility of BHC having a percentage of BS and SC bar takings. I.B and B.B explained that the benefit of BS and SC having the bar accounts were that in the future the BS and SC will be helping to fund any future investment in the hockey section. i.e pitch/changing facilities re-furbishment of the club/access etc. We also do not have the stress and headaches of staff employment. Mark Smith pointed out that a small income used to be made from anyone who advertised in the fixtures card, he suggested that we make sure that this was reinstated, every little helps.
I.B explained approximate costs for next year with regard to raising subscriptions. At the moment Subs were set at £90 per Adult £40 per Student and unemployed and £10 per mini. Which gave us £10,000 plus £18,000 was needed from match fees. A suggestion was made to increase the subs as no increase had been made for such a long time. Alex Miller pointed out that Winchester HC were paying much more four years ago, than our current fees. B.B replied also to take into consideration were that South admin costs were likely to soon go up. Another concern was that a franchise caterer has been brought in by BS and SC and the cost of teas are to rise. A subs rise of £20 and £10 for adults and students respectively without increase to minis would enable us to get by. Claire Brockbank suggested that players would be happy to pay £30 extra. BB said we should be mindful of trying to keep costs low for the minis and  Dave Watton suggested that parents of minis would be happy to pay an increase of .50p on their training fee with no increase on subscriptions for them, that idea was accepted.
A vote was taken on increasing the subscriptions for each adult by £30. Students and unemployed by £20.
No increase for minis. This was accepted unanimously.
Match fees are to stay the same unless any difficulties arise from a big increase in affiliation fees.
A question was raised about travelling allowances. Some sides were taking a high proportion of youngsters to away games, therefore the same people were taking their cars each game and quite often the set travel allowances were not enough to cover their costs. It was suggested that we take this into account each season as teams change. If travel allowance difficulties arise then these were to be taken to the playing committee who would look at them on an individual team basis.
The accounts were adopted and proposed by Dave Watton and seconded by Alex Hope.
